With Musk, Trump and the rest of the 21st century Ratpack running amok in the Washington, DC, states with legislatures that swing heavily Republican are feeling even more emboldened than normal and are threatening to trample over hard fought rights like a herd of running buffalo.

To take the wind out of their sails, as well as to bring attention to what’s going on, it’s time for those who can to take it to the streets and protest.

To help in this effort, AlternativeAppoaches is vowing to publicize any organized protest for worthwhile causes — that is causes that support democracy and a better life for all Americans — we hear about.

In North Carolina, on Tuesday, March 25, Equality North Carolina — the largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender rights advocacy group and political lobbying organization in North Carolina and the oldest statewide LGBTQ equality organization in the United States — is hosting Rainbow Repro Advocacy Day at the North Carolina General Assembly.

According to event organizers, the event’s purpose is to call on state lawmakers to protect reproductive rights for LGBTQ people in North Carolina and to defend access to inclusive healthcare and family planning options.

“As attacks on bodily autonomy and LGBTQ+ rights escalate across the country, advocates from across the state will gather to meet with legislators, demand policy protections, and ensure that our bodies, our futures, and our families remain protected and free,” the organization said in a statement.

A rally will be held at 1 pm on Tuesday to underscore the LGBTQ community’s needs for reproductive justice and collective action outside the North Carolina General Assembly, 16 W. Jones St, in Raleigh. Advocates will speak “on the intersection of LGBTQ+ rights and productive rights” and call for immediate legislation action.
