Nope, it's not really the official site for the White House, and the current administration wants to make sure that you know that. So much so that John Wooden, the site's publisher, once received a letter from David Addington, a counsel to Vice President Cheney, "requesting" him to remove pictures and a "fictitious biography" of Mrs. Cheney from his site. All we can say is that if you like good political satire, you've got to check this URL out. We can't help but wonder what approach the site will take in 2009 when we finally get our regime change. Remember, regime change starts at home. Anyway, we give this Five out of Five Stars!

Even though this environmental site is just getting started as we write this review, we have great expectations for this site, which features articles, blogs, a forum and a store. Right now, the environment can use all the help it can get. Even though sites like this tend to preach to the choir, they at least offer a place where we can send people when they finally wake up and realize that global warming will not turn the whole country into an endless summer paradise. Since this site is just getting started, we'll leave it unrated for now.

Commercial site on Reiki that offers many informative articles. If you use Reiki, whether you're Reiki 1 or an experienced Reiki Master, you'll probably find something useful here. When we visited the site for this review, we were especially impressed to see the article "The Practitioner's Influence on Your Treatment." Too often, we've seen New Age Reiki people offer to "do Reiki" on someone while they were angry or emotionally upset. It's nice to see this issue being addressed on a Reiki site. Four out of Five Stars.

We've been looking for a site like this for a long time - because the Internet needs a site like this. Here, you can ask site owner Rose Ariadne, "a longtime practitioner of witchcraft," anything about witchcraft and paganism - sort of a "Dear Abby" for would-be and wannabe witches. The advice seems to be sensible and heartfelt, and she tries to steer questioners in the right direction. This site would be especially useful for those of you who are just getting interested in paganism. Five out of Five Stars!

How cool is this? Now you don't have to worry about looking ignorant because you don't pronounce "athame" correctly. Also, now you can finally find out exactly what a boline is. As the name implies, words are actually spoken, so there's no need for guessing. However, if you're surfing on an old 486 with no sound card, not to worry, there is also an on screen pronunciation guide, just like in your old copy of Websters. This is a simply amazing site. The personel site of writer Ellie Crystal, this is a place that is chock full of information on every aspect of what we call the New Age. The nice thing is, Ms. Crystal doesn't jump to conclusions. When she writes about "The Philadelphia Experiment," for instance, she comes to no conclusion on whether this actually happened or not. But don't take our word for it, find out for yourself - but be warned, you can get lost for days here. We have to give this one five out of five stars.

We can't tell you if this is a good site or not, because we can't use it. On one computer that we tried to view this site on, we could navigate the site just fine, but we couldn't view all of any page because the site requires plug-ins that weren't installed on that Linux box. No problem, we figured, and went to a Windows machine with the latest and greatest version of Firefox that has the needed plug-ins installed. Well, the site loaded beautifully, but the Java plug-ins were so erratic that they made the page pretty much unusable. Until the webmaster gets this site fixed so it works on most computers, we're leaving this site unrated and don't recommend that you visit it.

Terrence McKenna, who died of a brain tumor in 2000, wrote the definitive book on growing magic mushrooms, introduced the hippies to South American shamanism, developed the theory of “Timewave Zero” (which postulates, if we understand it, that the present is predetermined by the future and that the end of time can be scientifically measured), and with his brother wrote a definitive text on the I-Ching. This site contains much of his writing and many streaming audio interviews with him. There is also some interesting “Timewave Zero” free software available for download.

If you're looking for a site that's all about opinion - this is it. This progressive leaning site is nothing but opinion - and they have millions of them. And they insist on putting every single one on the front page. While that may not be entirely true, it certainly seems that way, and thats the problem with this site. There are so many articles thrown onto the front page that the visitor can't help but be overwhelmed. We suspect that if the publishers of this site paid some attention to site layout, this might be a good site. We also suspect that isn't about to happen. We give it Two out of Five Stars.

Not only do we like this site's contents, we're fascinated by the ghostbusting sort of stuff they offer for sale. Since it began publishing several years back, it's become "the" spot for leftists and New Agers alike (heck, Deepak Chopra writes here). Giten's World is the site of Swedish guru, teacher and writer Swami Dhyan Giten, a contributing writer here at AlternativeApproaches.com. At first glance, it might appear that the site is in Swedish, but a closer inspection will reveal that the site has articles and information in both Swedish and English (Giten wirtes fluently in both languages).
If you are at all interested in learning about real meditation - meditation that requires an effort on your part - instead of the pretend too-easy-to-be-true pop meditation that's hawked on many websites (and in many books), you could do much worse than to start here. We highly recommend this site, not only because Giten contributes articles here, but also because we recognize him as a knowledgable and able teacher.

It’s probably not possible to teach either form of Tai’ Chi through a web page, and this one doesn’t even try. What they do, however is give you some useful information on using sounds and breathing techniques to aid you in your quest for wellness, and the 32 movement Tibetan Chi Kung form is much superior to the more complicated 108 movement Chinese form. They do try to sell you a CD, but they’re not too pushy about it. Don’t miss the link at the top of the opening page to “Tibetan Tonglin Meditation.”
