"With the Harry Potter series over, a new generation of fantasy novels is already emerging," says fantasy novelist Daniel Arenson. "Readers are looking for what to read next, and the genre is bigger than ever."
New Generation of Fantasy Novels Follows Harry Potter
Daniel Arenson should know a thing or two about fantasy literature. Thomson Gale Publishing released his fantasy novel Firefly Island this summer, and his fantasy stories have appeared in various publications over the past decade. When asked about the state of the genre and its future, he responded, "This is an important year for fantasy. We've seen the Harry Potter series end. We've seen the publication of Tolkien's Children of Hurin, which in a sense ended the Middle Earth saga. Fantasy has been selling like crazy. It's possibly the most popular genre out there, and the doors are open for the next big thing."

"At first, the superficial, sometimes "channeled," "spiritual" writings, the far-out, empty rhetoric and gross generalizations lacking substance did have some appeal, but it's like a destructive, sensually gratifying habit; it offers an escape from reality, but ultimately leads you down the path of illusion and distances you from "enlightenment." If you love inspirational poetry, fine, but it's in your best interest to avoid confusing it with spiritual truth."
Chopra, Spiritual Escapism & Fantasy-Charmed Myths & Feel-Good Prose Don't Lead to Enlightenment
by Scott & Stephen Petullo
Deepak Chopra’s original success stemmed from his strong talent for creative writing and bringing together Eastern philosophy and healing methods with Western Medicine. Chopra’s work tends to be more appealing to those who like their spiritual concepts to read in a more obscure yet poetic fashion, including folk-tales and fables.

There is no such thing as separateness. All are contained in the One! Ponder the difference between illusion and truth in "The Journey," a spiritual, new age, metaphysical science-fiction story that escorts the soul beyond orthodox teachings and limitations to the hidden secrets of the Universe, all the while touching upon the divinity within, the secret of manifestation, the universal laws of love and free will, the creator of all, and the never-ending circle of life.
"The Journey" Throws Off the Shackles of Mental Limitation
From early childhood, society teaches us to focus on only those things that can be measured by science or those things that have life by means of three dimensional or physical structures. Proof of this entire Universe and its workings must manifest itself in a way to be realized through the use of the five physical senses. Only recently has the sixth sense been acknowledged.

University of Maryland Harry Potter expert Jennie Levine reviews the final book in the Harry Potter series. "Finally, with the entire canon complete, we can truly claim that this is a story of good against evil."
Final Book Seals Potter Series as a Classic
reviewed by Jennie A. Levine
Curator for Historic Manuscripts - University of Maryland
Thank you, J. K. Rowling. With the publication of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, you have sealed the fact that the Harry Potter series will be a classic that will endure through future generations. Finally, with the entire canon complete, we can truly claim that this is a story of good against evil, of choosing between, as Dumbledore once said, "what is right and what is easy." This book does not follow the pattern of the previous books in the series, and the narrator, Harry, is more mature and focused than he has been in previous years.
