Author and teacher, Robert Sachs, interviews some of the most influential spiritual teachers and thinkers of our time in his newest book, "The Wisdom of The Buddhist Masters: Common and Uncommon Sense."
Nine Buddhist Leaders Speak Out On Today's Important Issues
When most people think of Buddhism, they think of pacifism - of a serene Buddha detached from the world.
But while the Buddha is serene, his detachment is not aloof or uninterested in the rest of us. In fact, the Buddha is one hundred percent engaged; body, speech, and mind all instruments of love and compassion twenty-four seven. Buddhism is informed, intelligent, compassionate, and skillfully engaged activism. It's goal is peace, but it does not shy away from confrontation and conflict. Consider the monks of Viet Nam and Myanmar. Consider the Tibetans. And this is what author and Buddhist practitioner Robert Sachs says people need to know about the Buddha and his teachings.

Here we go again folks. Seems like some things just won't go away. It's been 41 years since "Sgt. Pepper," and some people still believe Paul is dead. We guess that leaves Ringo as the last Beatle standing (or was it Ringo that Lorne Greene killed-off in the song that bears The Beatles drummer's name?).
New Song Solves Urban Legend: Is Paul Dead?
A college English professor and Americana Luke Powers songwriter sorts through the evidence of the world's greatest urban legend - that Paul McCartney died in 1966 and was replaced by an impostor or fake labeled "Faul." Powers comes to an amazing conclusion in song.

Two young women fight poolside about the existence of God, rather than whether Miller Lite tastes great or is less filling. The ad promotes the newly released "Beyond Reasonable Doubt: A Lawyer's Case for Disbelief in God" by Geoff Henley, which provides an attorney's perspective in a debate often dominated by scientists and clergy. Throughout the work, Henley charges that all religious myths are bad alibis and hearsay and that faith and God's law cruelly violate traditional principles of due process.

This article is a must read for anyone who's ever tried to figure out the significance of the "summer of love." Although we are pretty certain that Mr. Diamant hasn't discovered "the key" to understanding the events of 1967, we are equally as convinced that he's offering us a valuable piece of the puzzle.
The "Summer of Love" Seen in a Prophetic Light
by Christopher Witt Diamant
To understand the actual significance of what occurred in San Francisco during the Baptism of Fire we underwent, who walked the street of a City which had never existed save in the kingdom of David and the kingdom of Camelot, now found that he who had once entered the Golden Gate in Jerusalem in the Name of the Lord in the Time of their Visitation came again with his Generation to enter another Golden Gate in the Name of Love; as the Name of God; as in the Name of Christ Jesus; as a Child into the Gate of the West; for the Name of the Lord from the West is Love.

The interaction of news, cultures, economics, politics, environment etc. has created a complex, multi-level Global Village. However, our leaders and institutions, including Media, are still geared towards the short term, linear, specialized and particular, especially given the demands of the News Cycle. Discussion is still overwhelmingly single-issue and polarized, with two (balanced) sides to each issue, which is simplistic and dumbs down discussion. There is no mainstream Vision beyond the how to maintain Consumer Society. This failure of leadership includes both politicians and the Media, increasingly obedient to the dictates of corporate concentration.
