Not suprizingly, it appears that the fundies are in a snit over Oprah's embrace of New Age or New Though ideas. In our mind, however, "Don't Drink the Kool-Aid would be a case of the pot calling the kettle black.
Fundies in a Snit Over Oprah
(Press Release) The Beatles don't have anything on Oprah. In an interview on July 29, 1966, John Lennon stated that the Beatles were "more popular than Jesus." Robert Fontenot, Jr., an entertainment critic and journalist says in an article on About.com, that "it remains one of the biggest pop music scandals of all time, but even that dubious honor can't really convey the impact the statement had in those bygone days." According to Wikipedia, "The American Bible Belt protested in the South and Midwest, and conservative groups staged public burnings of Beatles' records and memorabilia. Many radio stations banned The Beatles' music, and some concert venues cancelled performances."
Will America have the same reaction when they are aware that Oprah says that "we are God?"

The oldest living person in the world claims she's 134 from the nomadic tribe of the Raj Gond in India. She knows the medicinal properties of over 1,000 native plants & has delivered a thousand babies. She credits her longevity to family, tea, herbal medicines, and a nip of alochol here & there.
World's Oldest Person Records Her Stories
Ghaini Lal Signh Jamkar, from the state of Maharastra in India, claims to be at least 130 years old. Although completely illiterate, she has embraced the idea of getting her story onto the world wibe web.
CEO and co-founder of the web site Story of My Life says, "The goal of Story of My Life is to get a story about every single person in the world onto our site. So we decided to start at the top, with the oldest living person." Tracking down rumors that there was an even older person than the official oldest living person of record, Story of My Life assembled a team to India to meet her, and recorded Mrs. Ghaini's story along with video and numerous pictures of her and her vast family.

The Allies of Humanity: Book One
by Marshall vian Summers New Knowledge Library 169 Pages
reviewed by Christine Hall
There are plenty of people in the New Age who believe that the mother ship of the Galactic Sisterhood is on it's way to rescue us. The ship comes from a world where everyone is something akin to a Tibetan Buddhist. When they get here, they will show our leaders and the capitalists who control the world economy the errors of their ways, we will all evolve into spiritual beings of great compassion and the planet will live happily ever after.

As Indiana Jones' fourth adventure hits to the big screen, an international team of archaeologists, anthropologists, museum specialists, ethicists and lawyers is pondering ethical and legal issues unintentionally raised in the films. Their focus on cultural heritage has a particular emphasis on the archaeological record.

No longer is the problem just that we need to slow down. Now we need to quit trying to do twenty things at once and learn to focus on the task at hand.
Multitasking Virus in Our Classrooms
by Josh Waitzkin
Author of The Art of Learning
A few weeks ago, I returned to the classroom of Dennis Dalton, the most
important college professor of my life. From the back of an amphitheater
seating several hundred students, I realized how much things had evolved
at Columbia and Barnard. The lecture hall was now equipped with a
wireless sound system, webcams, video projectors, wireless internet.
Students were using computers to record the lecture and to take notes.
Heads were buried in screens, the tap tap of hundreds of keyboards like
rain on the roof.

After California's Supreme Court Decision on Gay Marriage, San Francisco therapist Michael Halyard says lesbian and gay couples should include premarital therapy in their wedding plans.
Same-Sex Couples Urged to Consider Premarital Counseling
As lesbian and gay couples plan their summer weddings, many therapists argue that premarital counseling should be part of those plans. "Premarital counseling helps couples slow down and be conscious about their decision-- helping them to determine what marriage will mean for their relationships," says San Francisco Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) Michael Halyard.

Author Rob Mason attempts to reduce UFOs to science. Unlike many books on this subject, even the speculations of this book have a scientific basis.
The UFO Experience Reconsidered: Science and Speculation
The UFO Experience Reconsidered: Science and Speculation was inspired by, and is loosely based on The UFO Experience: A Scientific Inquiry (1972) by the late Dr. J. Allen Hynek. Dr. Hynek's book is generally considered to be a classic and the most influential book ever written about UFOs but much has happened since 1972. This new book not only brings us up-to-date, but extrapolates on current science whenever possible. The book is published by Schooner Moon Books of Mendocino, California.
