Spirituality/Paganism & Magick: Magic of Nature & the Perception of the Ancients

Posted on Sunday, August 02, 2009 - 02:00 PM

All of us have experienced the magick of nature. And most of us have come to understand that Ireland is a magickal place, indeed. In this article, Paraic Donoghue gives us a personal account of magickal Ireland.

"Draocht an Nadur"
Magic of Nature and the subtle perception of the ancients

by Paraic Donoghue

In Connemara, on the west coast of Ireland, I was blessed to have witnessed a diverse tribe of people. Each magical moment served a purpose for me, while the serenity of the land was always present. The perception the ancestors acquired was "Draocht an Nadur" - Magic of nature.

As a child, my brother and I spent hours playing among the enchanted stones. I remember clearly how I wanted to dig an opening into the earth and live there. We did not get very far before we hit granite, the hardest rock imaginable. My dream of living among the little people was shattered. I remember my grandfather telling stories how he, and his ancestors before him, had moved stones effortlessly to build walls, stone sheds, and houses and to clear fields for crops. My brother and I were convinced giants had moved those rocks. How innocent and untainted we were.

Connemara still has the ability to revive a forgotten perception within individuals. A walk on the bog has the capacity to place within you the heartbeat of the sun, moon and earth, a magical experience for anyone to have. The perception comes to you because you demand it. Places like Connemara that are not disturbed by commercialism can reawaken the softness inside your being.

On different occasions while visiting Ireland, I have had the opportunity to spend time and energy with the people who live there. It has been very rewarding for me to cross paths with these elders. They are so pleased to see me, and posses amazing wisdom from "an Nadur" - Nature.

They usually grasp my hand, a sacred embrace. I propose the most powerful of healing happens when people are sincere and warm. I have witnessed my heart open immediately when in their midst.

Why do some of the ancestors posses this perception, the connectivity and realness of being authentic?

I believe we can quicken this perception within ourselves. The restoration of humanity perhaps lies in a primordial sacred science of nature and the heavens. The elders say everyone must share in this vision.

Can the symmetry of nature be the core of all ancient teachings? Does the human body have the ability to unlock codes to a primordial sacred science? Is being genuine the first step to claiming this sacred science? I believe it has the capacity to liberate humanity from its shackles.

Acts of kindness, and compassion are the collective programming language we must relearn if we want to preserve the planet. The systematic mechanical way of life finally is beginning to weaken. The elders talk about this.

I believe there was a strict coherent universal philosophy being taught to the ancients in remote regions of the world and finally some of us are remembering.

The perception is real and separation or segregation between tribes is illusion. The fundamental teachings are the softness of nature within and toward each other.

Places like Ireland are magical reminders to claim the ancient perception and an opportunity to induce ancient remembrance.

Conduct your everyday life as being sacred, smile at your neighbour, make eye contact, and emanate the perception from inside your being to all living things. It can birth a new dream.
